Precision Welding with Electron Beam Technology
Electron beam welding (EBW) is a high-energy-density welding process in which a precisely focused beam of accelerated electrons transfers its kinetic energy directly into the workpiece. The process takes place in a controlled vacuum environment and enables deep, narrow welds with a small heat-affected zone and low overall heat input. This minimizes distortion and makes EBW particularly suitable for precision components, finished or near-finished parts, and demanding materials such as steels, titanium and nickel-based alloys, aluminium, copper and refractory metals. Precise CNC control of beam power, focus, position and deflection also enables highly repeatable and fully automated welding processes.
Choosing the Right Electron Beam Welding System
The optimum electron beam welding system is determined not only by component size, but by the complete manufacturing task: workpiece dimensions and weight, weld geometry and required beam access, production volume, target cycle time, loading concept, component manipulation and the required level of automation. EBCUBE is Evobeam’s flexible stand-alone platform for process development, precision welding and small- to medium-scale production. EBCELL is designed for industrial series production where short cycle times, automated workpiece handling and the integration of pre- and post-welding operations are essential.
For medium-sized, large or particularly complex components, Sciaky EBW systems provide large-chamber solutions with flexible electron beam gun and workpiece manipulation. Where standard platforms cannot meet specific requirements, Evobeam develops customized electron beam welding machines with application-specific vacuum chambers, manipulators, automation and process equipment. This broad system portfolio allows the machine configuration to be developed around the component and its manufacturing process rather than forcing the application into a predefined machine concept.
Why Evobeam?
Evobeam combines electron beam process expertise with vacuum engineering, precision mechanics, CNC control and industrial automation. This interdisciplinary approach enables us to support a project from the first welding trials and process development through machine engineering and system integration to commissioning and long-term production support. Our experience covers both flexible systems for changing applications and highly automated production equipment designed for repeatable manufacturing at industrial scale.
In addition to supplying the machine itself, Evobeam provides the process know-how required to establish a reliable production solution — including application development, qualification support, customized tooling and manipulation concepts, process monitoring, service and modernization. The result is an electron beam welding system engineered around the customer’s component, process and production requirements.
